Development: Getting My Bearings
As I mentioned in my previous post, I would like to get into the habit of posting a weekly development update. Mondays seem to be the most logical day to me, as I consider them the first day of my development week.
While the previous week I spent gathering together all the pieces I needed to work on the source code, this week I dived in and started to add things to it. At this point, I don't have a full picture of how everything works and where everything is implemented, but Shane writes good code, so I'm picking it up very quickly. Obviously, I'm not going to try implementing anything particularly large until I am comfortable with all the code.
Changes this week, therefore, have been very minor. I tweaked the layout of some of the user interfaces pieces that had become misaligned with the new theme, spent some time cleaning up the way objects come into view in the distance now that the fog is no longer hiding it, fixed a skipping bug in music playback, and worked out a better way to play back 'emote' animations.
Currently, my task list for an 'alpha testing platform' is sitting at 23 items, 5 of which I have crossed of in the past 2 weeks. Of course, that was all easy stuff. Next week things should get interesting, and hopefully, be a bit more visual.
