lol...
First thing that popped in my head when i saw this was Forest Gump trying to run as a kid and his leg brace things falling apart and him running away like the wind..... :P
Heh, hopefully that doesn't happen with those stilts. They cost a thousand bucks, so that would be rather tragic.

what makes a mask a mask is it how others see it or how it can be removed? what is to prevent a facade of humanity from being just a mask? maybe I am just not one to judge

I prefer Digi. Primarily because it makes anthros look a lot more animal like. From a perspective of how they are "better" they allow for faster running speeds and its more efficient(doesn't burn as much energy to run with). For me it's just the appearence really, though being able to run faster than in other MMOs would be nice.

Something humorous - this same debate is going on in Mech Warrior Online's forum. Battle mechs come in planitgrade and digitigrade as well. What they've pointed out is digitigrade legs allow for fast movement, but have more trouble at vertical movement (hills, stairs, etc) than planitgrade does. And for the record, I like digitigrade mechs more too, catapults and mad cats look so epic :P

Anyway it could be possible to have it both ways. In second life, many furry avatars come with planitgrade and digitigrade parts. Granted it makes it so the paw part has to be bigger than the normal foot in order to hide it, but it comes out good and the animations are the same but still look fine. Granted it's second life so the animations aren't that great to begin with, and the added parts could always clip through the ground I suppose.

At any rate, I like Digi more. My only personal problem with digi is footwear. A nightmare down there to draw footwear I imagine. Most furs go bare foot or else they are plantigrade. can always leave out foot armor, but I imagine the foot would become to Antilians as knees are to Skyrim guards.

I have no doubt you could design armor for it, but foot armor would take near the complexity of a gauntlet to make, so obviously any boot-type armor would be more expensive as say the leggings.

As for digitigrade, I prefer it for the running speed. And I stand by my statements I've made in the MWO forum. (it's been a while since I touched anywhere but the hardware section, but still) Stairs? Build ramps instead dangit.

Though notably one aspect to the digitigrade form legs would make any kicks in martial arts reliant on the leg bones rather than the feet as a contact point to deal ideal damage, so if a martial arts based combat system were to be made such would need to be taken into account. And would probably involve said part of leg being armored. Shin guards mandatory to keep from breaking bones?

For rodent and weasel-like creatures I would appreciate planitrade- like how the animals of redwall are portrayed- do you have any idea how happy I'd be if I got to run around as Samkin from Redwall or Ferhago the asassin? bawwwwwwww!

I'm quite sure the models for the Reisuii and Sakii are going to be quite different than the models being used for the Taipii bloodlines. The Taipii are indeed digigrade, however, it'll be up to Jeff as to how the other two races look/walk.

I'm not too worried as to how they are going to look as much as how all three are going to come together... honestly, It's been bothering me since the last test.

I even thought of a general (and hopefully plausable) idea on how that could happen... but we'll just have to wait, I guess.

I think Digitigrade looks more asthetically pleasing

unless their is snow on the ground that is

Digitigrade makes it look more realistic. and as they said they have started with it. adding in plantigrade will mean extra time to get it working. which may push the game back again.
Plus Digitigrade for me is normal! yes i do walk around on my toe's i have never found out why but i walk digitigrade, i cant walk on my full foot it feels horrible.
