Which Upcoming Feature Are You Most Interested In?

Jeff Leigh
Lead Developer

Hey everyone!

While several things are already planned and underway for the 1st quarter this year - I'd like to hear from the community what everyone is most interested in seeing over the next few months:
  • Improved Characters including new Felo, Koro, and Kisan
  • News Regarding Additional Future Races
  • Combat Skills and Enemy AI
  • New Terrain to Explore
  • Ruins/Dungeons to Explore
  • Other new non-combat skill disciplines (things to do other than fight, fish, and cook)
  • New clothing and equipment
  • Quests
  • Improved social features (better chat window, friends list, whispers, emotes, etc.)
  • Full-time Server Availability
And of course, if there is something else you'd like to see, just include that in your reply! Your feedback is appreciated - it'll help me to determine what to prioritize and introduce even in the 'smaller' releases we're having while working on larger items.

Is "K: All of the above" an acceptable answer?

Seriously, though, probably the biggest one for me is full-time server availability, with improved characters and new clothes/equipment tied for a close second. I would say news regarding future races, but I'd have to say that the future races themselves would probably be a better third place on my list of most anticipated upcoming features; I'm pretty happy with the Vulan though (even the soul-stealing eyes are starting to grow on me :P), so I don't expect I'll be lacking in races I'd like to play for quite some time. Honorable mentions include quests and combat skills, too. Fishing and cooking are fun and all, but those evil forest jidou keep running me over when I try to go gather firewood. I'd like to pay them back, and milking them isn't really satiating my thirst for revenge.

My prio list would be something like this, highest prio first

- Server avavilablility
- Social features
- Something else to do (combat/other crafts, either would work for me)
- Quests involving the above

The island is already huge, so expanding tarrain or dungeons can wait imo.

Races are also nice to have, but lower on the list (although there should be cute playable rodents! ;) )

The Island is big enough as is to explore... but wouldn't mind ruins/dungeons to explore though. ...I would like a shirt on though!... and pants... It's cold out there D=!

And whatever it takes for the FPS to get to 20-30+ x.x, otherwise the combat will be a drag for me.

OMNOMNOM and MINEMINEMINE! If I don't respond in-game, I probably dozed off because of the music. Contact me again in about an hour or two.

New clothing and equipment &Improved Characters sounds nice.

Or you could try it this:

Stuff you hate to implement first
Stuff you love to implement last

Hmm, this is a hard choice. First, server stability so that it can run 24/7. Second to that, having a Felo character is pretty important to me, followed by better chat since I'm likely to use that a lot, especially when I get to know the community better. I know the rest are going to be a lot more involved to complete, and I don't really have a preference, though I would love to see a decent crafting system.

1-Server Availability (obvious)
2-Ruins/Dungeons to Explore (as big and pretty the island is, it starts to feel empty the further you get from camp.)
3-New clothing and equipment (A bit of character diversity is nice ((also it's FABULOUS!)) )
4-Improved Characters (although it doesn't bother me toomuch, the characters are a bit too stiff)
5-Combat Skills and Enemy AI (It's something differant from the other skills so far and would add a bit of divercity)

All of them are nice, though I'd have to say that server availability tops my list, seeing as I'm currently teaching in South Korea and that means when I'm able to play/test is rather limited and doesn't really match up with when the server is up for alpha tests.

I seem to recall reading on one of the recent dev updates about a goal being improvements for lower end machines and that also has my interest. My desktop wasn't portable, so I couldn't take it with me to South Korea, and my netbook isn't exactly cut out for gaming... On that note, is there any thread where I can post my findings about how the game works on my machine to give the developers an idea of what can and can't run their game? And as another note - it might be a good idea at some point to allow the user to change the graphics settings at the character selection stage (if it's possible to do such a thing), since it was really hard to lower the settings while in the main part of the game.

I'd have to say server availability and then Character improvement. Being an artist myself I could't help but notice that our current character models have unfocused eyes for instance, and making and running around as an optomized character reflecting my tastes is what I look for most in a game, which is why I have more fun with the skyrim/ oblivion character creator than the actual game sometimes, either way, whatever is prioritized and implemented will always be good and exciting news to me :3
