Alpha Test - Saturday & Sunday, February 10th & 11th

Jeff Leigh
Lead Developer

It's time for another alpha test - and considering how well it worked last weekend, we'll be testing on both Saturday and Sunday! The focus on this week's test is on testing server stability improvements, and gathering performance information for our next set of performance enhancements.

Status: The test has been completed, and the server is offline.

What's new in Antilia 5.5.3

((As usual, I'll be adding to this list throughout the day as new features are completed and confirmed for this release.))
  • Found and fixed several memory leaks in server.
  • Added performance timers to client. Client now writes "antiliaclient.performance.log" on shutdown, which will help identify areas of code needing the most improvement.
  • Inventory stacks of the same type can be combined by dragging them together.
  • Inventory stacks can be split in half by right-click dragging.
  • While dragging an inventory stack, clicking with the alternate mouse button drops a single item from the stack. (This only works when dropping onto an item of the same type or an empty space.)
  • Food items now stack.
  • Minor: Fixed message when receiving sysal seeds.
  • Minor: Fixed message when receiving Tasii bamboo.
  • Minor: Fixed small terrain crack near the Southern Grasslands.
  • Minor: Fixed a pair of crates 'floating' in camp.

Known Issues

  • Because the swimming pattern of fish was significantly changed in recent versions, there are many places in the world where fish may not be properly positioned in the water - causing them to swim underground or in the air slightly. Some areas were touched up - such as the lakeside near camp and Maulei beach, but most areas have not been fixed yet.
  • Teleporting can occasionally crash the game.
  • Clutter causes memory fragmentation, and will eventually cause the game to crash.
  • The chat window does not scroll properly.
  • GUI windows sometimes do not appear properly until clicked on.
  • Some NPCs - mostly Jidou - can get 'stuck' in the scene while crossing pages.
  • Teleporters and Markers that have been clicked don't always light up properly, although they are still 'known'.
  • The window settings don't specifically recall if you were running the window maximized or not.
  • Equipping both a fishing pole and an axe will result in only the last item equipped being displayed. Un-equipping either will remove the visibly equipped item, resulting in invisible equipment.

If this is your first time testing...

Antilia's alpha tests are open to everyone - all you need is a forum account. Once you have created an account and logged in, you will see a large 'play' button in the main header menu at the top of the page while the test is in progress. Click on it to review the EULA, system requirements, and download the game client. (If you do not see the large 'play' link in the main menu, it is likely the test hasn't started yet.)

Hope to see you all there!

Will the testing continue overnight(assuming no crashes while you're asleep) or will the testing stop around 7 and start up in the morning again?

Also it's a picture of me playing my bamboo flute! *gasps*

The plan is - if the server hasn't crashed, we won't deliberately take it down until the end of testing on Sunday. If it does crash on Saturday, we may take it down overnight, or we may try to making improvements and bringing it back up... we'll let everyone know on Saturday, of course.

Yay! I may be able to test some this weekend even though I work on both days.

Oh nice. Good to see a few memory leaks were closed. Those can get nasty over time. Also, that new log file should help players 'find' it easier when problems arise. (Speaking of which, should we email the log file to you since last week's issue helped show posting the entire log to the site was not the best idea or have you figured out some other way for us to get it to you?)

Also, although I didn't check the site in time to help on Thursday's impromptu test, I certainly hope to see how things go these next two days.

@ Finadan: Hey, look how many of us got in that picture too! All while listening to you pipe away!

Want to see if I can play a song with the instrument... and since I have no talent in music making or a good ear in sharps/flats and such... it's gonna be very difficult to impossible. Need some sort of tutorial!

Oh man I missed the screenshot take? :(

OMNOMNOM and MINEMINEMINE! If I don't respond in-game, I probably dozed off because of the music. Contact me again in about an hour or two.

I can't wait :) Hopefully I'll be able to pop in! Haven't been around for the last few weeks... seems you guys have made a huge leap forward!

Ok - the server is up for today, however we opted to hold off on pushing 5.5.3 out - it'd be nice to add some content features for this release as well, so we'll release it tomorrow.
